Staying Home

Today was a quiet day spent most in MH with a ride into Grand Junction late in the day to visit Walmart to pickup some food and a short stop at Lowe’s to check pricing on a shop vac plus buy a surge strip so can connect all the electronics for the lap computer (you know the normal stuff like computer, monitor, speakers, USB external drive).

After do these chores Virena wanted some Ice Cream so we drove through many parking lots looking for the right place and ended up getting our ice cream from Burger King not our first choice but it worked.

When we came back to the MH the wind was blowing so hard that I put away the small awnings over the windows, they were making to much noise for me to be comfortable.  The wind gusts were strong enough that it rocked the MH even with the jacks down.

I’m wishing all you a happy Fathers day.

Work on coach

For the last couple of days the temperature in the refrigerator has been higher than it should be, so I started off the day trying to find out why… update after checking everything I can think of and see if it makes a difference.

Tourist Day

OK now it is time for us to have a fun afternoon.  We are heading back into Utah to do a day trip to Arches National Park.

DSCF1388  The drive was a little long, about 100 miles.  We started by going as far into the park as possible then stopped and explored on our way out.  While at the park I think we stopped at 15 or 20 different places here are a few pictures to give a favor of the area.

Here is Virena staying out of the sun at our first arch which is Skyline Arch DSC08743

And here is Virena hiking to Sand Dune Arch what do you think is she having fun or…

and this is Sand Dune arch, not one of my best pictures

Here are some more shots to give a feel for the area.  The red color comes from iron, some the the formations will have streaks of light tan, darker brown and then red looking like the formations were laid down one level at a time.DSC08753 DSC08763

and yes I did walk up to these arches, there were 3 grouped fairly close together and only about a mile hike.

I know it looks like the rock is only inches thick but is probably 6 to 10 feet thick.DSC08784 DSC08792

and then on the way home we drove Rt 128, what a great drive we would highly recommend.  On one side is the Colorado river and the other side shear red rock wall, and any time there was and flat space between the road and the Colorado there would be National campgrounds.

Colorado National Monument

I’ll try and do a quick update and then show some pictures.  The update is on Wednesday we made the trip to the vet with Sam for that hardest trip of all.  For the last year Sam has been struggling.  I didn’t think he was going to be able to start our trip with us, but then a couple of days before we left he perked up and was doing better.  That continued for about a week and then the last 4 or 5 days Sam was not eating at all.  We felt we didn’t have any choice but to take him to the vet for the last time.  This is the second time we have done this together, it is not what either of us wanted, and it is the first time in over 16 years Virena has been without a cat.  The rest of the day was quiet in the RV… Samson

Then yesterday we visited Colorado National Monument.  It is a 23 mile drive through some spectacular canyons and views.  The drive took us 2 and half to three hours to make the drive with all the stops at view points.  We also watched a video in the visitors center.  We love my Golden Age Card for free pass at the pay station.  I’ll also post some pictures shortly.

The weather here in Grand Junction has been very warm and dry.  Highs in the 90’s and humidity single digit.  With lots of wind with gusts in the 30’s.  We are looking forward to cooler temperatures and more humidity.  Guess we should be careful what
