What a day we had today. Started early making a walk next door to Camping World which is next door to the campground where we are staying. The reason was to purchase grommets to hold the grates on our stovetop and that should resolve the rattles that we hear when driving.
Then back for breakfast and getting ready to hit the road with the car visiting Santa Fe. Here are some highlights from the day.
As we were entering I40 we noticed several motorcycles and a lot of them looked like police units. As we started down the ramp it was temporarily blocked because of all the motorcycle and police vehicles. Here were just a few and looks like they are going to Washington DC for rolling thunder. click here for more information

The only negative of this because of the stopped traffic and exit ramps and traffic backed up behind the motorcycles traffic ended up being very rubber bandy meaning we would be going at least speed limit and then 15 MPH. After about 30 minutes into the drive to Santa Fe Virena was struggling with being very uncomfortable. So, we stopped at an exit and looked to see if there was another route to Santa Fe but we couldn’t find one. The temporary solution was Virena said she wanted to drive and did for 10 or 20 miles and we stopped at a rest center for Ray to use the facilities. As we were getting ready to leave Virena said she wanted me to take over driving. And the rest of the trip went much better because with our stops the bad traffic issue was resolved. Making both of us feel better and more at ease.
Now lets talk about Santa Fe and the sites we experiences. Here is the view on the way:

And here is what some of the homes looked like.

And here is New Mexico’s eternal flame dedicated to her war Dead .

And next we entered the New Mexico State Capitol building and were surprised by the artwork.

The above picture was as we entered a long hallway and here are pictures looking both ways down the hallway.

We did walk down the hall and into the capitol building.

We felt like we walk into somewhere we were not suppose to be and, Virena, kept looking for security to escort us out, but it was fun. And here is the picture of the front of the Capitol Building .

And on the way home (back to the motorhome) we stopped at Costco and Walmart to restock the pantry.
Something to think about: What is love? Is it an emotion, feeling, or commitment?
Yea, it bothers both of us. Virena, a little more than me. I do better with it if I’m driving, guess it make me feel like I have some control.
Ray and Virena,
Mike and I are enjoying your blog vicariously trekking across the southwest route with you folks. Our lives are busy in the Cape with brother Terry’s cancer issues and simply having another in the house, but God has certainly proved mighty in doling out extra measures of love and graciousness … also daily reminders of what it truly means to be loved in spite of me rather than because of me. But than on that I could write volumes. In April I had a splenectomy to resolve the platelet issue- out of the hospital for a week and it was resolved that it didn’t work … argh! So now the docs are trying chemo on my bone marrow’s B cells to teach them not to destroy those platelets. It’s six hour sessions of infusions of Ruxipan, and then we’ll see. Mike is taking the reins at the home front regularly providing breakfasts and the fine art of leftover lunches. And somehow God is keeping us going. Prayers are much appreciated. In June Alexis and I are off to Italy for an artist’s workshop. Now which of these things does not belong? I’ll be reading along your adventures, so keep them coming. By the way, what was the motorcycle brigade about?
Barbara
Sorry to here the splenectomy didn’t work. Am glad to here there is a plan to resolve the problem. Way to go Mike with cooking and helping.
Is God Great the way he gives us the will and ability to keep on keeping on.
Your trip to Italy sounds like it will be a wonderful experience please keep us updated on how that goes.
here is the mission statement about the motorcycle brigade
“Rolling Thunder Washington, DC, Inc’s mission is to educate, facilitate, and never forget by means of a demonstration for service members that were abandoned after the Vietnam War. The Rolling Thunder First Amendment Demonstration Run has also evolved into a display of patriotism and respect for all who defend our country.”

Ray didn’t mention why I was uncomfortable with the ride to Santa Fe. If was because the traffic was packed and every car was going 75 to 80 MPH and changing lanes with no room to do so. I would rather be safe than sorry. Ray didn’t seem to understand that I wanted him to slow down and not try to compete with the rest of the traffic, not to mention that we didn’t know the way we were going and had to continually check with our GPS.
Thanks for the clarification and more importantly glad we worked it out
I’m glad you guys are safe! That kind of traffics makes me paranoid! We love you and miss you guys!!
